Mid-Autumn Festival

One of the biggest holidays celebrated in Hong Kong is Mid-Autumn Festival.  It coincides with harvest time and is celebrated by eating mooncakes, playing with lanterns, and watching dragon dances.  Naomi especially enjoyed the holiday with her (adorable) friends at school.  She is in the back row, center.
She made this awesome paper lantern, in pink of course.
Later we headed to TST to see a lantern parade.
Everyone buys lanterns to play with and carry in the dark, so as you can imagine there are all different kinds.  We saw some beautiful traditional lanterns, but ended up with some ridiculous plastic lanterns that played silly songs.  It's all about making the kiddos happy, right?
Naomi chose a butt-rock Lilo & Stich VAN lantern (curse you, Disney!)
Ginger had a cute (and apparently quite tasty) goldfish
They adored playing with them!
Happy mid-autumn night!
