The Bird Market

We had been wanting to check out the bird market in Mong Kok for a while, so as soon as a sunny Saturday came along we caught a bus and went in search of an adventure. We were not disappointed!

Most of the birds are kept in these little cages outside in the open air.

There are also a lot of people bringing their birds out to get fresh air, the same way you might walk your dog. Gigi loved listening to their chirping.

The girls were totally enthralled by all the tiny bouncing birdies!

Of course you can also get bird houses, supplies, and bird food at the market. These grasshoppers were not the only live food we encountered. We also saw some tiny frogs! Yikesees!

I loved watching the wild birds hop around all the cages.

We bought the girls a darling bamboo cage and let Naomi pick out 2 (fake) feather birds: a purple bird named Piano (???) & an orange bird named Cheeto.

We left at dusk, just as the birdies were getting ready for bed:)
