For the second day of our Beijing adventure we travelled to the Great Wall at Mutianyu. After a terrifying ride (our driver either had nerves of steal or a death wish, or most likely both!) we arrived on a misty morning. This portion of the wall has been restored, but was not busy or crowded. The fog added to the mystique of the mountains. It was both breathtaking and slippery!
The mist eventually turned to rain, so we ducked into a tower to wait it out.
Once we returned to the city we were famished! Luckily Wangfujing Street was just a short walk from our hotel. Wangfujing is famous for its street food, particularly its exotic street food. Stay tuned for more on that...
Naomi has become much more adventurous in trying new things. The dumplings were awesome!

ReplyDeleteAhh man, I want to go to the great wall of China. Some of that food looks so good, but count me out for any of that sheep stuff or medicinal centipede. What is the price like of street food? Is it fairly cheap?
ReplyDeleteYeah, the street food is super cheap, and really good. I guess the dumplings or a bowl of noodles is around 75 cents. Also, none of us got sick afterwards, which is always a plus! It would have been fun to spend more time at the great wall - if it hadn't been raining I would have liked to hike around a bit. You can actually camp in certain sections or stay in local homes, which would be amazing.
