There are many nice beaches in Hong Kong. I'm not really sure why we haven't taken advantage of them before. Actually, I guess it has something to do with having to load up all of our gear and take it, along with my kids, great distances on multiple forms of public transportation. Then taking them home again after they are exhausted from playing at the beach all day. And sandy. (I know, I know. Cry me a river!) Sometimes you've just got to, right? We found a nearby beach in Ma Wan and headed out for some fun!
Here's something you don't see everyday. Or ever. A giant ark! It is supposed to be the world's only full-sized replica of Noah's ark with gardens of animal sculptures, a theatre, and other attractions. We were really just at the beach for a swim, but hey, good to know it's there, right? We'll save that activity for a rainy day. (Yes, pun intended!) I wonder how that thing fared in the typhoon? hmm. Anyway, I digress...
This was our first outing to the beach since we took the girls to Bali. You may remember the smallest Cowley did not enjoy the sand so much. Not much has changed in that department. Ginger screamed in terror when I tried to set her down on the sand. She absolutely hated it! Since I knew I couldn't carry her forever, I put her in the center of the towel and just laughed at her reaction.
Someday she'll realize the joys of sand. Today was not that day.
We stayed until evening and watched the Tsing Ma bridge light up. What a nice ending to a fun day.
